The Salem House of Prayer began as The Upper Room at The Reed Opera House in Salem Oregon September 1st 2014. It stemmed from decades of disappointment with the organized religion of Christianity. Getting to know my creator was so much more real than the dog and pony show of church. And in March 2016 it got all too real (long story), and there has been no looking back. The Upper Room became a true monastery and a true house of prayer.

Fast forward ten years later in 2026 (last week) the name was changed to, The Salem House of Prayer.    

The reason for the name change had to do with The Upper Room name already being used by several different church groups already. Not that (House of Prayer) wasn't, but the former 501(c)(3) religious organization known as SALEM HOUSE OF PRAYER finally took a dump and went belly up in 2026. So it was decided to use the House of Prayer moniker as our own. Although Office Space of Prayer would have been more accurate.
